Frost Law Firm, PC is pleased to announce our sponsorship of The Greatest Escape Motorcycle Ride 2022, a charity event that raises funds for mesothelioma cancer research. Registration for a single rider is $40 and $55 for a rider and passenger.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 16, 2022, when motorcyclists will initially meet at the Mulholland Harley-Davidson store located in Calabasas, CA. After a morning of coffee and donuts, motorcyclists will travel as a group to The Elks Lodge in Simi Valley, CA for prizes, entertainment, and lunch.
The event’s origin can be found in the classic movie “The Great Escape,” which starred Steve McQueen. McQueen passed away from mesothelioma complications in 1980.
All proceeds raised through The Greatest Escape Motorcycle Ride 2022 will go to the Pacific Mesothelioma Center (PMC). The PMC is proud of its status as the “only medical research laboratory that conducts intramural research,” which means it focuses on the prevention and treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma. The PMC also partners with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center.
Mesothelioma is an aggressive form of rare cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. Part of what makes diagnosing and treating mesothelioma so difficult is the time between exposure and the development of symptoms. It may take anywhere from 20 to 60 years for symptoms to start showing, at which point the prognosis is typically poor. Around 2,000 to 3,000 people are diagnosed with mesothelioma every year in the United States.
Research for diagnosing and treating mesothelioma is chronically underfunded, and the money raised through this event will be an invaluable asset to researchers.
