Lahaina Mesothelioma Lawyer

West Maui’s largest census-designated place, Lahaina, is home to hardworking, dedicated residents. Lahaina has a number of industries, and many of the residents who live there may have worked in them. Residents may have ties to the various sugar plantations and mills that used to thrive. Unfortunately, working in these places may have exposed them to asbestos—which may have caused the development of mesothelioma. During this difficult time, our law firm can help you or your loved one get full and fair compensation for wrongful exposure. Our Lahaina mesothelioma lawyer will work diligently to represent your best interests and protect your rights.

Lahaina Residents May Have Been Exposed to Asbestos

As a Lahaina resident, you may need to look back at the businesses that existed during the time when asbestos was heavily used. Two main companies that this may have occurred at are the H Hackfeld Company and Pioneer Mill Company Ltd.

H Hackfeld and Company

This company was a German mercantile business that started in the 19th century. The business’s focus changed throughout the years, with early interests in the whaling industry before changing to the Hawaiian sugar industry. It continued until it was dissolved in 1918 by the Alien Property Custodian. But that doesn’t mean all the business’ assets were lost. They were transferred to American Factors, which continued to run for decades, meaning that there were still numerous job opportunities for the Lahaina residents.

Pioneer Mill Company Ltd.

This was the first plantation that grew sugar commercially in Lahaina. The Pioneer Mill Company Ltd. started in 1860 and has strong roots within the community. Many Lahaina residents’ lives were impacted by the company, whether it was from working there or being related to someone who worked there. The company’s operations continued until 1999, but the smokestack from the mill was preserved as a historic landmark.

With both these companies in Lahaina and considering the time they were in operation, it’s likely that asbestos was present on the worksites. Our lawyers will look into what your job duties were and the areas in which you could have been exposed to asbestos. This could have been from fixing boilers or simply working in a room that had floor tiles that contained asbestos.

Our Experience Is Personal

Scott L. Frost’s Family Experience with Lung Cancer

For most of his life, Scott L. Frost’s father, who was in the construction industry, worked with and sold products containing asbestos without knowing the materials were dangerous. He was diagnosed with lung cancer 40 years after starting his career, leading Scott’s family to fight like they had never fought before.

Pictured here with his wife of over 50 years, Scott’s father eventually succumbed to the cancer. Since then, Scott has made it his mission to do everything in his power to make sure corporations understand how dangerous asbestos is and prevent future generations from suffering as his family did, as well as support research that may lead to finding a cure.
