Scott Frost shares his insights from our newsletter:
Memorial Day has never felt like just a long weekend to me.
My years in the Army changed how I think about yesterday—and what it asks of us.
Not celebration.
Remembrance.
A pause to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country.
And to remember that many of the freedoms we enjoy came at a cost most of us will
never fully understand.
One thing I learned in military service is that some of the strongest people you’ll ever
meet are often the least interested in recognition.
They step forward when others step back.
They look out for the people beside them.
And they carry burdens most people never notice.
Those lessons never really left me.
They stayed with me long after the uniform came off.
And they’ve continued shaping how I show up for people in the work I do today.
So while many people think of Memorial Day as the unofficial start of summer, I’ve
always seen it first as something else:
A day to remember sacrifice.
A day to honor service.
A day to be grateful for those who gave everything.
