From the Newsletter: Wait… why did I come in here?

Scott Frost shares his insights from our newsletter:

You ever walk into a room and immediately forget why you went in there?

Then you just stand there for a second staring at the wall like your brain is buffering.

Most people have moments like that occasionally.

But for people going through cancer treatment, memory issues and brain fog can
become something much more serious and disruptive.

There’s actually a term for it: “chemo brain.”

It’s not just occasional forgetfulness.

For some people, it can feel like trying to think through fog while the rest of life keeps
moving normally around you.

And despite the name, it’s not always caused by chemotherapy itself.

Cancer treatments can contribute to it.
The cancer itself can contribute to it.
So can exhaustion, stress, lack of sleep, pain, medications, and the general mental
weight that comes with cancer treatment and everything around it..

It can affect memory, concentration, focus, and the ability to keep track of everyday
tasks that once felt automatic.

Simple things suddenly take more effort.

Following conversations.
Remembering appointments.
Holding onto a train of thought.

And for many families, it becomes one more invisible challenge layered on top of an
already overwhelming situation.

A lot of the hardest parts of cancer don’t show up on scans or test results.

The exhaustion that doesn’t go away with sleep.
The stress that follows people home.
The mental fog that makes even simple tasks frustrating.
The feeling that everyday life suddenly takes twice as much effort.

Those quieter battles deserve to be acknowledged too.
